Corona del Mar Cheating Scandal

Corona del Mar is a nice city in Southern California, but you have to be very rich or wealthy to live there. They have a very good and productive school system that graduates high school students that go on to bigger and better opportunities and lives.

 

Recently, however, Corona del Mar has suffered through a major scandal that has involved some of their high school students: It’s called HACKING. The evidence has indicated that the hacking has been going on for quite some time and involves 11 students and a tutor. All 750, 000 grades are to be audited.

 

The evidence also indicates that the tutor, Timothy Lai, was heavily involved. One of the 11 students told administrators and the police that Lai has asked him to help him (Lai) break into teachers’ computers. The informative student identified 11 other students involved in the scheme, and on Dec. 17 security guards and the school administrators escorted the 11 students from classes.

 

The evidence proves that the Corona del Mar hacking was going on 6 months before the scandal became known to the public, and that Lai was directly involved. When the police wanted him to be interviewed, he came up missing. The police then obtained a search warrant and searched his apartment and his car. In June, 2013 two high school girls were expelled from school because their grades were actually changed. When the police interviewed them they said a tutor did that for them. The girls would not give the name of the tutor.

 

On one occasion a student and Lai broke into the school during early morning hours and placed a device called a keylogger on teachers’ computers. As a result many teachers were being hacked at various times. Now all 750, 000 grades must be audited.

 

Hacking in general has become an enormous problem in the America culture. Many people have been hurt and their lives upset because of hacking. Many did not know their computers were hacked and found out too late after important information was stolen from them. People who have not been hacked feel great discomfort just knowing that it happen at any time and to anyone. Hacking is a very insidious form of cheating. It is one of the evils in the America culture that points to the fact that the American culture is badly broken and beyond repair. Let us hope the Corona del Mar grade keeping system is not beyond repair, because 750, 000 grades to review is an enormous and exacting undertaking.

Recently, September, 2013 a California newspaper printed an essay that was sent in to be read by anyone interested in a specific topic. The newspaper printed the essay in it’s original form. Ladies and gentleman boys and girls it was a monumental disgrace written by a high school junior male student.  It was ignorance personified pertaining to grammar and spelling. It is a sure bet that the junior student was nailed to the cross by friends and relatives. It not, he certainly should have been.

 

The sad fact is there are untold numbers of junior high and high school students in the same boat with the junior male student. Those students are going to help continue the 55% of high school graduates who must take remedial language courses when they begin their college careers. They gain no admittance into college until those courses are completed, period. Many people have to get involved, and that includes parents, students, and the schools.

 

The following is going to be helpful information for parents and their student children. The neighborhood is also a very helpful place.

 

Words are used to make sentences, and sentences are used to make paragraphs. Paragraphs are put together to build stories and books, and in order to have well composed paragraphs, sentences have to be correctly written.

 

Kinds of Sentences

 

1. DECLARATIVE-makes a statement and ends with a period. (.) John loves dogs.

 

2. INERROGATIVE-asks a questions and ends with A QUESTION MARK. (?) Who is going?

 

3. EXCLAMATORY-expresses strong feeling and ends with an exclamation mark. (!) Catch the dog! Hurry! Dad is calling you!

 

4. IMPERATIVE-gives a command that is urgent. It can end with a period or an exclamation mark. You must keep good records. Do it now!

 

Sentence Structure

 

1. SIMPLE-makes only one complete thought. My cat loves me and his cat food.

 

2.  COMPOUND-makes two complete thoughts joined by conjunction. (and, or, but). He sings the songs, but he sings to fast. Mary loves to sing, and she practices every day. John, get up at seven o’ clock, or you will be late.

 

3. COMPLEX-makes one complete thought with an added incomplete thought. The picnic was cancelled because of the rain.

 

4. COMPOUND-COMPLEX-two complete thoughts with an added incomplete thought. With all that TV noise, you cannot concentrate well, and you will make many errors.

 

*** When you write sentences-begin with a capital letter-end with a punctuation mark-spell words correctly-use complete and the coma correctly.

Down The Wrong Path

There are so many wrong paths that can be taken nowadays in modern cultures. Here you are going to read about two paths taken by so many teen-agers and their clueless parents.

A divorced professional woman has a son and a daughter. The problems centers around her and her 15-year-old son and how clueless she is about her son’s daily behavior. This particular problem can be multiplied by a five-figure number throughout the American culture.

During her son’s elementary school days he was an obedient, honest, and very good student. Then, once he got settled in the high school environment, everything changed very noticeably and drastically: he became a confirmed and addicted pot smoker; his behavior deteriorated; he no longer is honest, obedient, and a good student. It’s an existing parental nightmare. An investigation into activities at his high school has established that pot smoking and the graduation to heroin is common. This does not bode well for son and mother.

A good friend of the professional woman has alerted her about what is going on at her son’s high school, but the mother has her head in the sand and chosen to take the clueless path. That put two people on the wrong path: mother and son. Her reply was alarming. “He is just experimenting. I want him to get it out of his system before he enters college”. My goodness! What a clueless professional mother!

There are several factors clueless mother has to quickly realize about her very addicted son. It may take a very long time for her stoned on weed addiction to get out of his system. What happens to him when he gets bored with grass? Will he graduate to a more serious (heroin) addiction? And as his very good student record has deteriorate, will he ever get into college at all after spending his high school years stoned on grass?

Clueless mother has to pull her head out of the sand. She has to listen to her friend who is desperately trying to help her before what is certainly down the road becomes a very sad reality in her life and that of her son’s. Clueless mother has to get professional help for herself and her son. Her peace of mind and the future success of her son are dangerously hanging in the balance. Her son has to get back on the straight and narrow and become what he once was: an obedient, honest, and very good student without delay! Mother and son have to work it out together, because plenty of potential trouble is waiting around the corner: a long lasting addiction; graduation to heroin and cocaine; prison; skid row; no college for addicted son; a life of great regret for clueless mother’s failure to understand and act positively in time.
