Double Trouble
By
Roger Behra
There are two very noticeable problems that the culture of California has to contend with at the beginning of 2011. The news media keeps reminding everyone every hour on a daily basis: the budget mess in Sacramento; the insane antics Charlie Sheen. Both need a potent case of humility as soon as possible.
Let´s start with California. The Golden State since the nineteen-seventies has failed to learn from failures and bad decisions concerning the annual budget. Now the state is between a huge rock and hard place. The political follies in Sacramento year after year have caused the state to be in hopeless fiscal pit of gigantic proportions with absolutely no wiggle room. And the plan is to do more of the same: continue to excessively tax people; not honor political promises; let unions be heavily involved. That ladies and gentlemen is dysfunctional behavior not easily equaled: The perpetrators (politicians and unions) in Sacramento show no shame, only arrogance and bad, selfish thinking at the expense of taxpayers.
The tribe in Sacramento never ceases to install fiscal harm. The state government punishes it is citizens and businesses in so many ways: uncontrolled spending with poor record keeping; harsh taxes; unyielding business regulations; the highest gasoline prices and taxes in America. Electing the same person again who was the governor thirty years ago when America started it´s love affair with unions and the downhill slide shows extremely bad thinking. Gov. Brown is not going to lead the Golden State out of bankruptcy. California needs a large and potent case of humility, and it is very fast approaching. It is plainly in view.
And then there is the other half of double trouble: the demonic Charlie Sheen. What an awful imagine and example he portrays. His language and his live in porno women, Sheen´s queens as he calls them, are examples of built-in immorality and decadence. He´s delusional, addicted to alcohol, and the cocaine habit. He is a typical dysfunctional, rich, spoiled Hollywood brat. He´s head for a very sad end.
There is no optimism in regards to California because Gov. Brown is owned by the unions. And Brown´s addiction tio taxes, taxes, and more taxes has not changed since his first trip as governor back in the 1970´s. Along with Charlie Sheen, Brown also need a dose of humility and rehabilitation. The question is who is the better bet for rehab? Save your time and money. Best wishes go to Charlie Sheen, despite what appear to be great odds against his personal changes. It can´t be felt as optimistic about the changes needed for a better outlook in the Golden State, California.
