SHORT COMMUNICATION 79
The Decision Is Your
By
Roger Behra
Recently, an article in The Orange County Register told the readers the condition of religious life in America, and the condition is far from very good. Religious life in America is definitely on the decline. Irreligious life has taken a leap forward. Strong religious life in America has declined to only moderate throughout America. It is somewhat strong only in the Shout and Southeastern parts of America. When all areas are considered, that does not bode well for the country as the study indicates.
Atheists, who do not believe in God or an afterlife, and agnostics, who believe that there is no proof that God and an afterlife really exist, have noticeably increased in number. Those that believe in God and religious living are only moderate in their behavior. The irreligious and moderately religious groups combined make up the largest percentage in America.
The questions are where do you stand in regards to religious living, and what are you going to do about it? The following three paragraphs may help the irreligious and moderate groups to adjust their thinking in this matter.
People must remember that life here on earth is only temporary. And it can really and at any time. We must, therefore, make the correct decision very early in life, because only God knows when a life will end.
If a person A believes in God and keeps His laws and lives a good religious life, but when person A dies and there is no god or afterlife, person A has not lost anything. He or she gained only a better life here on earth, which is fine in itself. If person B does not believe in God and does not keep His laws and does not believe in an afterlife, but when person B dies and there really is a God and an afterlife, person B has lost everything. And God will judge person B and give an eternity of eternal damnation.
Therefore, the strong and sensible suggestion is this. Learn about the very abundant proof that God exists and that His laws are for our benefit and that there is really an afterlife. Make the decision very soon. Only God knows how much time is left for you. Be among the millions who have chosen to be person A. The decision is yours. You have the power to transform your life and your eternity. And in the end, which must come sooner or later, you will have gained everything, indeed.
We must always remember that life is a constant battle between good (God, His laws, graces, helps, and blessings) and evil (Satan and his lies, hatred, and false promises) and the possession of our souls for all eternity. All the abundant and definitive evidence reveals that good is the only safe and beneficial outcome now and for all eternity.

What Ails the Modern World, By Roger Behra
SHORT COMMUNICATION 78
What Ails the Modern World
By
Roger Behra
There is certain percentage of the world’s population that knows what ails the modern world. (Ail means to be ill or to grow weak). That is the condition of the modern world-ill and weak. And it is growing more so as each day passes.
That is very evident as we witness all the events and great suffering and all the natural disasters, killings, and other unspeakable crimes being committed by mankind each and every day.
The certain percentage of the world’s population that knows what ails the modern world is the number of people who knows and keeps God’s laws. They keep God’s laws every day as a matter of daily life. They adjust their lives to let God’s laws always to be their guide. Their moral compasses are headed in the right direction and functioning quite well.
For those who do not know, God’s laws are the following:
A. Love God with your whole mind, body, and actions.
B. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
C. The Ten Commandments.
1. I am your God, you shall not have strange gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of your God in vain.
3. Keep holy the Sabbath Day.
4. Honor you father and mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or husband.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.
God gave us His laws to live by because He knew we needed guidelines to live with in order to be happy here on earth as we showed our love for His and our neighbor. When we fail to know His laws live by them each day, we end up miserable here on earth and throw away a happy eternity with Him later, when our time here on earth ends.
So, the power rests with us. We determine the quality of our lives here and our eternity, later. The sad fact is this. The large percent who fail to learn God’s laws and keep them hurt not only themselves, they cause great sadness and unhappiness for all those who do know and keep God’s laws. That is the present recently.
Finally, the joyful fact is this. The percentage of people who honor and love God and keep His laws receive His abundant blessings, graces, and helps in their daily lives in spite of the cultural harm the irreligious and law breakers cause in people’s lives. God’s rewards are most fitting result in the battle of good vs. evil. And God’s rewards blend in very well into all cultures of the world. Thanks be to God!

The Hour of Great Mercy, By Roger Behra
SHORT COMMUNICATION 77
The Hour of Great Mercy
By
Roger Behra
In a booklet of prayers mostly used by Catholics (and others, perhaps), there is a particular prayer called “The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy.” This particular prayer was given to Sister Faustina in the 1930’s. It is called the Hour of Great Mercy. It is easy to say this prayer from memory.
The prayer asks the praying person to do three things during the 3 P.M. hour on any given day, as follows:
1. Implore God’s mercy especially for sinners.
2. For a brief moment (or longer if desired) be steeped (soaked) in God’s Passion, particularly at the moment of His agony.
3. Make a personal request of God in virtue of His Passion and death on the Cross. God promises not to refuse any request made of Him in virtue of His passion during the 3 P.M. hour.
On January 14, 2009, Mr. Fred Barretta came across his booklet of prayers as he was cleaning out his briefcase. He had not said the 3 o’clock hour prayer in a long time, so he said it again on that day. He did not know that on the next day he would need God’s help and for God to keep his prayer promise in a very big way.
As many of you have heard or read, Flight 1549 got into very serious trouble shortly after takeoff on January 15, 2009. The plane hit a large flight of geese, and both engines were disabled. Flight 1549 was going to crash land over a very large populated area immediately.
As the plane became quiet and lost altitude, Fred knew his end was approaching very quickly. He looked at his watch. It was 3:30 P.M. It was the hour of great mercy. Quickly, Fred said “The Chaplet of the Divine mercy” and asked God for his help. Fred needed God’s help right at the very moment.
Seconds later Flight 1549 made a miraculous landing on the Hudson River. The plane did not disintegrate and scatter it’s parts and the passengers into the cold river water. With only a few injuries on board, everyone was rescued to live another day.
Without a doubt Fred’s prayer during the 3 o’clock hour was the great contributing factor. God kept His promise. He granted Fred’s prayer request in virtue of His passion and death on the cross. Historical records tell us that all similar water crash landings ended in disasters.
If you do not believe in miracles, then, you should. If you do believe in miracles and God’s great mercy, then, you saw or heard about one happening on January 15,
2009, on the Hudson River.
Thank you dear Lord and Savior! Thank You so very much!

The Unbelievable Becomes Believable, By Roger Behra

The Unbelievable Becomes Believable
By
Roger Behra
In the field of science, if something cannot be touched or felt or seen or heard, then, it does not exist. But that philosophy is slowly and surely beginning to change, especially in regards to what happens to a person at death. However, it has been and still is common for doctors and others to say that when a person dies, it is all over, that there is nothing more.
In the past when a doctor’s patient related what went on during a near-death experience, it was regarded as a hallucination and not a real experience, and that it was caused oxygen deprivation to the brain. But, as thousands of near-death experiences have been related and recorded and studied, it is becoming quite evident that death is not the end and that there is much more to it, and that a person’s consciousness most definitely continues on.
The medical profession is most interested in this subject of consciousness continuing on after death. Thanks to the two pioneers, Dr. Melvin Morse, a pediatrician in private practice, and Dr. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, now deceased, and several others recently, a strong light is being focused on this very important subject.
What got Dr. Morse interested in what goes on during a near-death experience happened early in his medical career. A lifeless child was brought into his emergency room. She had been under water for eighteen minutes and was considered clinically dead, but the emergency room crew very quickly began the resuscitation procedure. After more than forty-five minutes of the procedure, the child was brought back to life.
Later, Dr. Morse had a conversation with the child. He was astounded at the story the child excitedly told him. The story included what the resuscitation crew talked about, and what went on during the forty-five minutes, and that in the middle of the effort Dr. Morse called another doctor and asked “what do I do now.” She even told the doctor what he and the crew were wearing and the color of their hear, etc. it was unbelievable it seemed. So, Dr. Morse decided to devote a great deal of his life to examining and studying the near-death experience. You can dead about his efforts in his books, namely, Closer to the Light, Transformed By the Light, and is new book, God’s World.
Dr. Kubler-Ross is the real pioneer in the study and recording information on near-death experiences. During her lifetime she interviewed and recorded over 20,000 near-death experiences, and that included people in all parts of this world, after she had her own near-death experience. Her book, On Life After Death, is a most interesting and informative one.
After many decades have passed, the scientific world is finally becoming interested in this very interesting subject. And the questions are:
1. Is science interested in order to enlighten us?
2. Is science interested only because in the end the science people have to face the same end here on earth as all others do?
The answer it is hoped is to do both. To enlighten and satisfy themselves are two very worthwhile goals.

The 10 Commandments Explained, By Roger Behra
SHORT COMMUNICATION 75
The 10 Commandments Explained
By
Roger Behra
A very recent article in The Orange County Register in California revealed the fact that religious living in the United States has declined to under 50%. The irreligious, therefore, are in the majority. As a result no one should be surprised at the increased amount of evil going on in the modern American culture. It is an accurate conclusion to assume that little knowledge and/or practice of the 10 Commandments is in effect. That is a very sad situation, indeed.
In communication N°. 78 the Commandments are listed, but no explanation between the Commandment and the evil it forbids is given. That will take place now in this communication. It must be known the connection between the Commandment and the evil it forbids. You will read more about them later.
A Commandment given by God is an order to obey a law controls behavior, and the controlled behavior is for benefit of all of us. God knew what was good for us.
The two great Commandments are: love God with all your mind, heart, and actions, and love your neighbor as you love yourself. When we do this, we are also trying to keep the 10 Commandments, which shuts out evil actions in our lives. The 10 Commandments and the evil they help us avoid are:
1. I am the Lord your God, you shall not prefer man-made gods to me.
* God must be the center our life. We must pray to Him and worship Him.
2. You shall not take the name of your God in vain.
* Always use the name of god and Jesus reverently, and no blasphemy
or breaking of an oath.
3. Keep holy the Sabbath Day.
* Attend church, enjoy rest, no unnecessary work, enjoy sports, hob
hobbies, etc.
4. Honor you father and mother.
* No disobedience, hatred, threatening, cursing, striking, insulting,
unkindness, wishing evil, and must respect and obey just laws of
church and state.
5. You shall not kill.
* Safeguard life and health and physical welfare of ourselves and
others. Forbids murder, abortion, recklessness, anger, hatred,
sterilization, misuse of alcohol and drugs.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
* No adultery, fornication, self-abuse, impurity in thought, word, deed,
indecent dressing, or unnatural acts together, alone, or with
animals.
7. You shall not steal.
* No robbery, burglary, graft, bribes, cheating, taking or keeping
property of others, damaging property of others, addiction to
gambling.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
* No lying, gossip, perjury, rash judgment, unjust criticism, revealing
secrets, hurting reputations, revealing other’s sins.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or husband.
* No impure thoughts and desires about them.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.
* No desire for property belonging to others.
These 10 Commandments cover the thinking and actions that lead to evil in people’s lives when they are broken. It is very clearly understandable that knowing and keeping them is the best behavior for a clear conscience and a very orderly and peaceful life free from the scourge of evil. God gave them to us out of His love for us. God wants us to have the best happy life here on earth and to be happy with Him for all eternity. Indeed, we should try very hard to keep them, and we should always be thankful for both His Commandments and His great love for us.
What prompted this communication was the revelation that most pre-teens, teenagers, young adults, and many adults do not know the 10 Commandments, and, therefore do not keep them. And that is the answer to the abundance of evil in the modern world. Please, parents learn the 10 Commandments and how they help us. Then, teach to your children. You can make life better for so many.
